How to set up IPTV on Windows PCs, Macs and Linux desktops
Desktop is the fastest platform to test a subscription on, because VLC is already installed on most machines and takes about thirty seconds to point at a playlist. It is also the best platform for diagnosing a problem: if a channel plays cleanly in VLC on a wired laptop but stutters on your television, you have proved the issue is the television or its network rather than the service.

Setting up DrexTV on Windows & macOS
Follow these in order. Menu paths are given exactly as they appear on the device, and the whole sequence takes about 3 minutes.
Step 1: Pick a player for what you need
If you just want to confirm the service works, use VLC — it takes thirty seconds and needs no account setup.
If the desktop is going to be a regular viewing device, install IPTV Smarters Pro for desktop or, on Windows, MyIPTV Player from the Microsoft Store. Both support Xtream Codes login, so you get the seven-day guide, catch-up and the on-demand library rather than a flat channel list.
Step 2: The 30-second VLC route
Open VLC. On Windows go to Media, then Open Network Stream. On macOS go to File, then Open Network.
Paste the M3U playlist URL from your DrexTV activation email and press Play. The first channel starts, and pressing Ctrl+L on Windows or Command+Option+P on macOS opens the playlist panel with all 24,000 channels listed.
VLC gives you no programme guide and no categories, so it is a diagnostic and casual-viewing tool rather than a daily driver. But nothing is faster for proving a stream works.
Step 3: The full-guide route with Xtream Codes
Install IPTV Smarters Pro for desktop from its official site, or MyIPTV Player from the Microsoft Store on Windows.
Open the app, choose Login with Xtream Codes API, and enter your username, password and server URL. Typing on a real keyboard means the mistakes that plague remote-control setups simply do not happen here.
The app pulls the channel list, the seven-day guide, the catch-up sections and the on-demand library. Categories and favourites work exactly as they do on a television.
Step 4: Optional: Kodi for recording and timeshift
In Kodi, open Add-ons, then Install from repository, then PVR clients, and install PVR IPTV Simple Client.
Open its configuration. On the General tab set Location to Remote path and paste the M3U playlist URL. On the EPG tab set the XMLTV URL from your activation email.
Enable the add-on and restart Kodi. A TV entry appears on the main menu with a full guide. Kodi is the only desktop route that gives you both recording and timeshift, at the cost of the most setup.
Step 5: Tune playback for high bitrates
In VLC, go to Tools, Preferences, then Input / Codecs. Raise Network caching to 1500 to 3000 milliseconds — the default of 1000 is tight for a 4K stream and is the usual cause of periodic micro-stutter.
On the same screen, set Hardware-accelerated decoding to your GPU's option (Direct3D 11 on Windows, VideoToolbox on macOS). On a laptop this dramatically reduces CPU load and fan noise on a 4K feed.

Use the desktop to prove where a fault is
If a channel plays perfectly in VLC on a wired laptop but buffers on your television, the service and your internet connection are both fine and the problem is the television's network or decoder. This one test saves most support conversations.
Cast the desktop to a television if you need to
Chrome can cast a tab or the whole desktop to a Chromecast, and Windows supports Miracast to compatible televisions. Quality is below a native app because the stream is re-encoded, but it works as a stopgap.
Kodi is the only route to timeshift on desktop
If you want to pause and rewind live television on a computer, Kodi with the PVR client is the only desktop option that does it properly. VLC cannot, and the Smarters desktop builds only offer catch-up rather than true timeshift.
On Linux, VLC and Kodi both work natively
Both are in every major distribution's repositories, and the setup is identical to Windows. On a Steam Deck, install Kodi through Discover in desktop mode and add it to game mode as a non-Steam shortcut.
